About monk fruit:
Siraitia grosvenorii(luo han guo or monk fruit) is a herbaceous vine of the gourd family, native to southern China, mainly in the Guangxi, Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan provinces.
The dried fruit has been used as an ingredient in soup or stew to prevent symptoms of long-term conditions or for ongoing treatment,
or as a tea for immediate relief of discomfort.
Function and Application:
1. Sweetener: The fruit of luo han guo, whose extract is nearly 150 times sweeter than sugar and has been used in cooling drinks as a low-calorie sweetener.
2. Hypoglycemic: Because of its natural sweetening characteristic, monk fruit has exhibited antihyperglycemic effects.
3. Antioxidant: Monk fruit extract and mogroside V can scavenge free-radical activities.
4. Antineoplastic: The monk fruit extract can inhibit activation of EBV-EA(Epstein-barr virus-early antigen) at a level.
5. Monk fruit can also used for cough and sore throat, the fruits of luo han guo are used in herbal tea or soup.
